Asian Spirit

The Asian Spirit is an airline based in Pasay City, Manila in the Philippines. This flight service operates many scheduled domestic and international tourist services usually the feeder services that links Manila and Cebu with 24 domestic destinations supporting some trunk route operations of different other airlines. This airline service has its main base in Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila, with hubs at Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Manila.

In September 1995 the Asian Spirit airline service was established by the Airline Employees Cooperative but it started operating flights by April 1996 and its first routes were from Manila to the modern towns of San Jose, Malay, Virac, Daet, Tablas, and Cauayan and Masbate cities. Usually the cities and towns which are served by this airline are usually regarded as secondary and tertiary routes not served by major airlines.

Asian Spirit is also known as the first scheduled airline serving Boracay. It was also recognized as the Philippines's fourth flag carrier in the year 2003. The airlines under this flight service flies to places like Sandakan, Malaysia three times weekly from Zamboanga, NAMC YS-11 and Palau, Micronesia. It also flies to Seoul, South Korea three times every week from Kalibo,Clark, and Davao through McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft its flight model. With fleet size 16 this airline serves around 26 destinations operating under Asian Spirit, Inc as its parent company. Its headquarters are located in Manila, Philippines.



Since its inception till today the Asian Spirit once met with an accident on December 7, 1999, Asian Spirit Flight 100, an Let L-410, crashed between Kasibu in Nueva Vizcaya and Cabarroguis in Quirino. In this accident about 15 passengers on board were killed including 2 crew members. In effect of this accident the Manila-Cauayan route was closed it remains close till today.

The airline service at present has its base at Angeles, Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Manila, Cebu and Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Recently from June 15, 2007 Asian Spirit operated scheduled passenger flights to different destinations including Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania still serving to its older destinations including regions of Asia and Southeast Asia.
