The Cebu Pacific is a low cost airline with its base in Pasay City, Manila, the Philippines. The airline is also recognized as the Philippines' second national flag carrier and at present it is the leading domestic airline operating in Philippines. This leading domestic carrier in Philippines operates in most of the domestic destinations and routes with youngest fleet in Philippines. The Cebu Pacific is also recognized for operating scheduled domestic and international services with its main base in Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila with a hub located in at Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Francisco Bangoy International Airport.

The airline was established in the year 1988 on 26th August. It started its operation on March 8, 1996. In the beginning it was founded by the name Cebu Air and was acquired by JG Summit Holdings. Many domestic services also started by that time. It ceased its operation temporarily in February 1998 after it was grounded by the government and reactivated its service just the month next following re-certification of its aircraft. In its initial years the Cebu Pacific started with 24 domestic flights daily operating among Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, and Davao City. By the end of 2001, its operations increased to about 80 daily flights serving 18 domestic destinations. It was also granted rights to operate international flights to the regions such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, Guam and Hong Kong. On 22nd November 2001, International flights were also launched with three weekly flights to Seoul. Many other regional flights were also introduced.
On August 31, 2006 the Cebu Pacific reactivated its Manila to Singapore flight launching its direct flight from Cebu to Singapore. It also introduced the first low cost airline directly in competition with Singapore Airlines. In the year 2005 May the airline also received 2 airbus A320-214 aircraft on lease which started operation on June 3 2005 from Manila to Davao City. At present the airline operates regional flights to Singapore, Busan, Hong Kong and Seoul-Incheon from its Cebu hub and Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Taipei and Seoul-Incheon from Manila.
The entire service of this airline is owned by JG Summit Holdings with around 1,182 employees. Since its inception the Cebu Pacific once met with a major accident on February 2, 1998 when one of its flight 387, a DC-9-32 traveling from Manila to Cagayan de Oro, crashed on the slopes of Mount Sumagaya in Misamis Oriental, killing all 104 people making this crash as one of the worst air crash accident in Philippines. The reason of this incident was pilot’s error. Its 15 fleet size serves to 33 different destinations of world.
